Welcome to the International School of Milan’s Fashion, Art & Design Summer Camp. At this one-of-a-kind, exclusive experience, learners will push the limits of their creativity and gain new skills that empower them to achieve their dreams – all while having the time of their lives.

This two-week immersive experience gives learners the chance to explore Italy’s renowned fashion scene, learn fashion design from industry leaders, develop their fluency in the Italian language, and discover the unique sights that Milan offers. 

Attendees build confidence and cultural awareness as they work towards realising their aspirations – whether creative, cultural or linguistic. Our programme includes thrilling activities and trips to some of the area’s most iconic landmarks, including Lake Como and Milan Cathedral, making this summer camp the adventure of a lifetime.

The Fashion, Art & Design Summer Camp is a summer experience like no other. Our Fashion, Art & Design Summer Camp caters for day and residential campers. At our premium boarding house, learners are treated to a vibrant, comfortable home-away-from-home with regular cleaning and laundry services. 

Our chefs provide fresh, tasty, balanced meals for all diets to promote healthy eating habits and keep campers well-nourished.

Key Details of Our Summer Camp


Attendees will dive into the Made in Italy culture, explore the Italian fashion scene, learn various fashion design processes and develop their creativity. Through exciting activities and trips to historic and cultural locations, learners become confident, responsible young adults with a wider understanding and appreciation of international cultures. 

We run two sessions, each lasting two weeks.

Session 1 - 29 June to 12 July (2 weeks)
Session 2 - 13 to 26 July (2 weeks)

Residential campers arrive on Sunday and depart on Saturday. 
Day campers attend Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

Residential & Day campers: 13-17 years old

Residential Camp programme: €3,450

How Does it Work?


In the mornings, learners will tailor their experience by participating in one of two courses: 

  • Option A: Italian Language & Culture 
  • Option B: Art & Fashion Collection 

At the heart of our camp is the Upcycling & Sustainable Fashion afternoon course. All learners take this course which combines craftsmanship, creativity, environmental awareness, and traditional and innovative design techniques. Students will be guided from the initial steps to the final creation of their upcycled fashion garment, culminating in a presentation at the final exhibition show on the last day of camp.

Enriching weekly excursions are a key part of our programme and allow students to immerse themselves in Italian culture, practice their language skills and enjoy quality time with their newfound international friends. Example excursions:

  • Museum trips to Armani Silos, MUDEC and Triennale Design Museum
  • Missoni Archive & Factory
  • Designers’ showrooms in the Brera district

Location & Facilities


Known primarily as the fashion capital, Milan is much more than a mecca for shopping enthusiasts – this cosmopolitan city is rich in history, art and iconic architecture, offering a range of opportunities for enjoyment and cultural enrichment. 

The International School of Milan is centrally situated in Baranzate. Just a few kilometres from the heart of Milan, this quiet, green area boasts parks, gardens, cycle paths and a wide variety of restaurants, cafès, supermarkets, pharmacies and other small shops. It is well connected to Milan by public transport and is a convenient base for exploring the surroundings.

As the city’s oldest established school, ISM is a well-recognised and prestigious landmark among locals. Modern, purpose-built learning facilities are integral to our premium offering and include music studios, creative arts centres, a theatre and an indoor swimming pool. Experienced chefs prepare tasty, balanced meals in our kitchen so that campers stay healthy and well-nourished. 

Camp accommodation is provided within our premium boarding facilities, which include 24-hour security and supervision, en-suite rooms housing up to three students per room, and spacious common areas, including a lounge, kitchenette and open terrace.

FAQs

All our boarders are housed in the school boarding house. The campers are housed in single or double rooms (only one is a triple room) and have ensuite bathrooms shared between a maximum of 3 students.

We can accommodate 39 students in our boarding house and can have up to 10 students in day programme, per session.

 

During past camp editions, we have had more than 40 different nationalities.

Example Schedule 

8am to 9am: Breakfast in the boarding house 
9am to 12:20pm: Morning courses 
10:30am to 10:50am: Snack break 
12:30pm to 1:30pm: Lunch at the school canteen (or packed lunch during excursions*) 
2pm to 5pm: Sustainable Fashion course (all students together) 
5pm: Afternoon snack 
5pm to 7pm: Free time** with sports activities*** run by our camp staff 
7pm to 8pm: Dinner at the canteen (or packed dinner during excursions*) 
8pm to 9/9:30pm: Indoor and outdoor activities**** organised by our camp staff 
9:30pm to 10:30pm: Free time in the boarding house 
10:30pm: Lights out 

*Wednesdays, Saturday and Sundays are usually excursion days. 
**Students can enjoy some unsupervised free time in the local area of the school or while on excursions in Milan and on the lake, but only with parental consent, within a group of 3 to 4. 
***Basketball, volleyball, swimming in the school’s swimming pool. Additionally students can have some free time around the school. 
****These include quizzes, talent nights, treasure hunts, karaoke, bowling, movie night, pizza parties, disco nights and more. 

Students are separated by gender and age. We have separate corridors for boys and girls. We usually put students of similar age but different nationalities together in the same room to encourage them to speak English. If you have any specific request, please do not hesitate to share it with us and we will do our best to accommodate it. 

No. The courses are designed to enable those who already have some experience to learn new skills and go further, and beginners to learn the basics and successfully complete the required programme.

The student will be able to choose from the other courses offered.

Yes. On the last day of the camp there will be a presentation of the works at the school and parents and friends will be invited to attend.

We split the language classes into levels and keep to a 1:10 ratio.

Our camp activities are conducted in English; therefore, a basic level of English language comprehension is required. (A1, B) 

We have Italian as an option for the morning Language lessons, and the chance to expand on that with our bilingual staff and time out visiting Milan. 

The Residential programme includes: 

  • 24/7 security service, assistance and supervision 
  • Premium boarding accommodation 
  • Fully qualified and trained English-speaking teachers and monitors  
  • 48 hours of classes per session 
  • Course materials and equipment 
  •  Afternoon and evening fun and sports activities 
  • Scheduled excursions to Milan and surrounding areas

The Day programme includes (from 9am to 5pm): 

  • Two-week camp session from Monday to Friday (weekend not included)

  • Excursions to Milan and the surrounding areas (from Monday to Friday)

The prices do NOT include:

  • Transport to and from home city, or to and from airport/train station 
  • Pocket money for personal expenses

All the costs are included. We suggest the children have some pocket money if they would like to buy something during the excursions or free time.

Yes. Early bird bookings, returning students and siblings are eligible for a 5% discount. Attendees from Inspired schools receive 10% off camp fees. Only one discount can be applied per student.

Yes. For residential students travelling alone, we offer airport transfers to/from Malpensa Airport and Linate Airport. Our camp staff will wait for students at the gate on the day of arrival and assist them during check-in on the day of departure. The cost of this service will depend on whether a one-way or round trip is required.

  • Round trip: €252 
  • One-way trip: €126 

For Sunday arrival day: The airport transfer service operates for flights arriving between 9am and 4pm local time. For Saturday departure day: The airport transfer service operates for flights departing between 10am and 4pm local time. 

Yes. We work with UM on arrival and departure. The family must send us all the documents needed in advance. No additional cost is required.

Yes. International School of Milan can supply the corresponding letter to help with the Visa application. Applications must be filed in good time so as to coincide with our cancellation policy in the terms outlined in the following section.

No. Accident and liability insurance is included. If you wish, you can take out a personal private insurance policy for your child and share it with us.

Students will always be under the supervision of the camp staff, but are allowed to spend unsupervised free time in the local school area or on excursions, but only with parental consent. If consent is not given, a staff member will stay with the students at all times and accompany them walking around.  

Yes, once per session, and we supply the laundry bag.

Both bed sheets and towels are provided, changing every week.
