Over 60 Years of Experience

As the first established IB school in Milan, we are driven by strong academic standards, a progressive and innovative approach to education, and personalised teaching strategies that account for individual needs. These attributes have allowed us to effectively serve Milan's international and Italian communities with an excellent quality of learning for over 60 years, ensuring students achieve results and rewards that help them build upon their successes.

IS Milan is a place where learning is celebrated and each of our students is valued and challenged to achieve their full potential. Our diverse community is one that students and their families are proud to belong to. From early years to Grade 13, students are inspired to participate in the learning process with practical, engaging lessons, and they do so with enthusiasm. At every grade, our dedicated and skilled teachers propel students towards excellence: children are well supported and motivated to achieve highly, regardless of their language or academic level when joining the school.

In September 2018, we extended our provision to include a brand-new Boarding House that accommodates 42 students from 14 to 18 years. Under the care of our nurturing staff, our young residents enjoy week-long access to state of the art facilities at the largest school campus in Milan and gain a truly transformative experience that prepares them well for the next stage in their lives.

All year groups are taught the IB curriculum, which offers a truly international approach to learning. The curriculum perfectly fits the needs of a diverse student body representing 60 nationalities. The Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes equip students with the skills they require for successful future study worldwide and facilitate our graduates' admission to some of the world's top universities.

History of IS Milan

IS Milan is founded by Francesco Formiga in 1958 and is based at Senato street, Milan.

IS Milan is recognised as an International School in Italy by the Italian Ministry of Public Education. The Diploma is recognised as equivalent to the certification offered in Public Schools.

IS Milan receives IB Diploma accreditation in 1997.

The Middle Years section receives formal IB MYP accreditation in 2004, and IB PYP accreditation follows for the Primary section in 2005.

For the School's 50th anniversary in 2008, IS Milan organizes a international workshop conference focused on international education.

The increasing number of students leads to our multiple campuses finally merging in 2013 to become the current Baranzate campus.

IS Milan joins Inspired.

The Boarding division opens.
